This is as true of Insidious and Saw as it is of The Conjuring for whatever its box office take, The Conjuring 2 is about as memorable and hair-raising as an episode of Antiques Roadshow. Wan has a way of making scrappy, highly entertaining horror movies, only to then run them into the ground with sequels that offer only a modicum of the original film's thrills. Sandberg developed the original film as a short and after having zero luck with the Swedish film industry, brought Lights Out to the states where Wan took up his cause. No word has arrived as of yet concerning the return of any cast members, Teresa Palmer being the most notable at this point, but I would assume we'll be hearing about that soon enough. Sandberg is back with wife-producer Lotta Losten, while Wan is back as producer and Eric Heisserer is already set to pen the sequel. As Deadline reports, New Line saw the high return-on-investment percentage of Lights Out and has quickly ordered a sequel with much of the same creative team behind the film returning for the sequel. It does not store any personal data. And now you can add one more sequel to that line of producer gigs: Lights Out 2. These DCEU Movies include Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Suicide Squad (2016), Justice League (2017), Wonder Woman (2017), Aquaman (2018), Shazam! (2019), and Shazam! Fury of the Gods (2023). The project has been delayed for several years, and one reason for this is the fact that Sandberg and Warner Bros, the company that distributes the film, has been very busy since 2016 till date with DCEU movies. Lights Out 2 can still happen, but there is no release date yet. Sandberg restated that there were no confirmed plans about Lights Out 2 at the moment but that there were discussions about it. He accepted the fact that Gabriel was getting older in real life but pointed out that a solution could be to make the story take place some years down the line. However, during San Diego Comic-Con in mid-2022, the film’s director made it known that Lights Out 2 could still happen. This has made many fans of the movie ask questions about its status, and there has been little official response since. Although it was confirmed as far back as 2016, it has neither gone into development nor become production. In fact, the project has been in limbo for several years now. There is no release date for the Lights Out sequel.
